Primary Use:

Terragene Bionova(R) SCBI Autoclaves

The primary use of the Terragene Bionova(R) SCBI (BT220, BT221, BT222, BT223) in a medical context is to guarantee the successful sterilisation of medical equipment. It's an integral part of quality management systems (QMS) used in the healthcare industry. It plays a crucial role in evidencing sterilization effectiveness, thus assuring patient safety. Test Standard
These devices are specifically designed to perform a Bowie & Dick type test in pre-vacuum assisting sterilizers at 134°C, reflecting the highest sterilizing conditions.

Terragene Bionova(R) PCD Autoclaves

The Terragene Bionova(R) PCD (PCD220-C, PCD220-2, PCD222-C, PCD222-2) is a Process Challenge Device designed specifically to monitor steam sterilization processes. Its primary function is to enclose Biological and Chemical Indicators for challenging the sterilization process and validates its performance. PCD Capacity
It has a convenient lumen-like device featuring a 1.8m long tube, simulating long hollow instruments. For routine control of sterilization, it's capable of containing Chemical Indicators and Self Contained Biological Indicators.

Terragene Bionova(R) IC10/20FR Reader Incubator

Terragene Bionova(R) IC10/20FR is a rapid reader-incubator, used for incubating and interpreting results of Bionova(R) biological indicators. It is used for reading Bionova(R) miniaturized biological indicators in order to validate and monitor the effectiveness of sterilization processes. Technical Features
It provides accurate results rapidly within 20 minutes for steam and 90 minutes for EO Gas, while maintaining constant temperatures under 37°C/56°C. As a compact and lightweight device, it can be operated standalone or connected to a PC, making it a versatile and convenient tool for various medical setups. In summary, these Terragene Bionova(R) devices ensure that all your sterilization needs are covered proficiently, helping you maintain a high level of hygiene and safety in your medical practice.

How It Works:

Understanding Terragene Bionova(R) SCBI

Terragene Bionova(R) SCBI (BT220 BT221 BT222 BT223) is a Self-Contained Biological Indicator (SCBI) designed to evaluate the effectiveness of steam sterilization processes.
Much like other SCBIs, it comes with a spore strip accompanied by a sealed ampoule containing a growth media. Upon completion of the sterilization process, this ampoule is crushed, immersing the spore strip in the media.
These devices provide distinct results. The biological indicator turns yellow if the sterilization process fails (due to the growth of surviving spores) and remains purple if the sterilization is successful.

Terragene Bionova(R) PCD: Process Challenge Device

PCD (PCD220-C PCD220-2 PCD222-C PCD222-2) under the Terragene Bionova (R) brand is a process challenge device, acting as a surrogate for the actual load in sterilization processes. These are used to evaluate steam penetration and air removal.
The design of the PCD creates a resistance to steam penetration, mimicking the conditions during a sterilization cycle. If the SCBI test is successful in a PCD, it ensures the process's effectiveness in sterilizing the actual load.

Terragene Bionova(R) IC10/20FR:

The IC10/20FR Reader from the same Terragene Bionova (R) range is a reader and incubator made specifically for these biological indicators. This compact device is essential for reading the results from the SCBIs and interpreting the outcome of the sterilization process.
These devices are significant investments for any medical facility since they dramatically improve the accuracy, validity, reliability, and efficiency of sterilization procedures. Their usage protects both the medical staff and their patients, ensuring the highest levels of hygiene and infection control during surgeries and medical procedures. It is, therefore, critical for every healthcare professional to be familiarized with these devices and utilize them to their full potential to maintain the best medical practice standards.
